About Bodywork

BodyworkBodywork is a term used in alternative medicine or complementary medicine to describe any therapeutic, healing or personal development work which involves some form of touching, energetic work or the physical manipulation of a practically oriented physical and somatic understanding of the body.

Some examples of bodywork include: deep tissue massage, Alexander Technique, lymph massage, Shiatsu massage, lomi-lomi, acupressure warm stone massage, sports massage, reflexology the Trager Approach, Yoga, Tia Chi and Reiki. As you can see from this list, bodywork is incredibly varied, and the approach in each modality varies radically, depending on the style and the training the practitioner has received.
